Mexican Tiger Mask

Tiger Mask hand carved & painted wood  – Mexican folk art (Nahua/Guerrero)

> in the southern mountains of Guerrero the indigenous group Nahua is producing carved wood masks for the «Batalla de los Tigres» feast. Notwithstanding the name & appearance of the mask, there are no tigers in Americas, but the dancers are referred as «tecuani», a Nahuatl word for jaguar («man-eater»).
The modern dance is used to summon rain for the spring season
